Pickleball is easy to pick up, and so is dressing for it. Here is a practical guide to what to wear while you play and what to change into after.
On the court
What shoes should I wear for pickleball?
Wear court shoes designed for side-to-side movement. Running shoes are built for forward motion and offer less lateral support. If you play indoors, many facilities require non-marking soles.
What should I wear to play pickleball?
Choose lightweight, breathable clothing that lets you move freely: athletic shorts, skirts or joggers and a moisture-wicking top. Cotton holds moisture, so save your favourite cotton tees for after the game.
What should I wear for outdoor pickleball in cooler weather?
Layer up. A light base layer, a long sleeve and a removable outer layer let you adjust as you warm up. A cap and sunglasses help on bright days, and sunscreen is worth it in every season.
Indoor pickleball
Indoor courts are usually climate-controlled, so lighter layers work year-round. In Canada, many players move indoors for the winter months.
After the game
This is where comfort and style take over. Once you are off the court, heavyweight cotton comes into its own: it drapes well, holds its shape and feels substantial.
- A heavyweight tee for the coffee run or the drive home. Try The Baseline or the boxy Kitchen Tee.
- A soft long sleeve for cooler evenings, like The Clubhouse.
- Relaxed sweats to finish the look, such as The Courtside Sweatpant.
